NEAR Protocol (NEAR) is a proof-of-stake blockchain designed to be fast, cheap and — unusually — easy to use. It uses a technique called sharding to spread work across the network so it can scale as demand grows, and it has put real effort into user-friendly features such as human-readable account names and simpler onboarding. NEAR, its native token, pays fees and secures the network through staking.
