About Stellar

Stellar (XLM) is a blockchain built for fast, low-cost payments and moving money across borders. Launched in 2014 by Jed McCaleb, a co-founder of Ripple, it focuses on connecting banks, payment systems and people, and on making it easy to issue and trade digital versions of real-world currencies. Its native asset, the lumen (XLM), is used to pay tiny transaction fees and to bridge between different currencies on the network.

Stellar’s non-profit foundation positions it as public infrastructure for financial inclusion rather than a speculative platform, and it has pursued partnerships with payment providers and stablecoin issuers. Its challenge is turning that mission into large, durable transaction volume in a competitive payments landscape that now includes stablecoins on many chains. XLM is a volatile, high-risk asset.

First Light on Stellar (XLM)
What’s happening

Stellar is a payments-focused blockchain for cheap, fast cross-border transfers and issuing digital currencies. Lumens (XLM) pay small fees and bridge between currencies; a non-profit foundation stewards the network.

Why it matters

Stellar’s pitch is practical: money movement and financial inclusion, not speculation. The watch-item is real payment and stablecoin volume, in a field crowded with rivals. Mission-driven and low-cost, but adoption is the whole game. XLM is volatile and high-risk.
